Transgenic Mouse Models for ALS
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a relentlessly progressive, fatal disease in which motor neurons degenerate. Many mechanisms have been proposed for why these neurons degenerate, and though one of these proposals has lead to a treatment, none have lead to a cure. The reason for motor neuron degeneration in ALS thus is still very much an open question. I am studying the pathogenesis of ALS using transgenic mouse models.
