Research Interests

Gliomas are a collection of nervous system tumors arising from glial cells such as astrocytes and oligodendrocytes.
The most deadly and aggressive of these gliomas is Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM), with a median survival time of approximately 15 months from the time of diagnosis. Recent sequencing efforts of low grade gliomas and GBM tumors have revealed a frequent single point mutation in isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) which confers neomorphic activity to the enzyme. My project focuses on exploring novel therapeutic strategies to target the IDH1 mutation in gliomas.
